Most toys get played with twice. We're only interested in the third time.
Every home has the same bin
Somewhere in every home there's a bin, a basket or a bottom drawer where toys go to be forgotten. It's rarely because they were badly made. It's because they only ever had one idea in them, and the child found it in an afternoon.
That problem isn't specific to any one kind of toy. Building sets, plush, ride-ons, puzzles, board games, dress-up — every category has toys a child returns to for years, and toys that go quiet by the second week. The difference is almost never the price tag. It's whether the toy leaves any room for the child's own ideas.
That difference is the entire reason ToyHare exists.
The only test that mattersNothing carries our name by accident
ToyHare is a name on a box, and we treat that as a promise rather than a logo. Nothing carries it unless it clears the same four checks — whatever the category, whatever the price, however well it might sell.
Materials we can name. Construction that outlives a season. Play that isn't scripted. Age guidance stated plainly. Four checks, applied the same way to a play kitchen today as they will be to whatever category we open next.
We're building the range one category at a time rather than all at once. That's slower, and it's the point: it means the bar never gets quietly lowered just to fill a page.
The four checks — every product, every category

01
Materials we can name
Every listing states what the product is actually made of. Where a finish, a fabric or a plastic matters, we name it — instead of hiding behind the word "premium".
-
02
Built past one season
Nothing carries our name unless the construction survives daily handling — and weather, where the toy is meant to live outdoors. A toy still worth passing down to a younger sibling is the benchmark.
-
03
Play that isn't scripted
No fixed outcome, no single correct way to use it. The child sets the rules — which is what lets one toy stay interesting across several years instead of several days.
-
04
Age guidance stated plainly
Age ranges and any required hazard warnings sit on the listing, not in the small print. If a toy isn't suitable for under-3s, we say so in the open rather than leaving you to guess.
What we won't claim
Toy copy is usually written to sound reassuring rather than to be useful, so here's the plain version. Products intended for children under 3, or containing small parts, carry the required choking hazard warning on the listing and on the packaging. Recommended age ranges appear on every product.
What we won't do is turn that into a safety slogan we can't stand behind. If a claim isn't documented, it doesn't go on the site — however good it would look in a headline. Ask us something specific before you order and you'll get a straight answer, not a marketing line.
A toy shop, built one category at a time
ToyHare opened with a focused range because that's the honest way to start — nobody can stand behind a thousand products on day one. The plan was always broader: more categories, more ages, more of the kinds of play children genuinely come back to, added deliberately rather than dumped in.
Every new category is held to the same four checks as the first one. That's the promise that has to survive the growth, and it's the one part of this page we'd never rewrite.
If you're after something we don't have yet, tell us. What people ask for is the best signal we have about which category to open next.
